Go ahead and mention my child,
The one that died, you know.
Don't worry about hurting me further.
The depth of my pain doesn't show.

Don't worry about making cry,
I'm already crying inside.
Help me to heal by releasing,
The tears that I try to hide.

I'm hurt when you just keep silent,
Pretending he didn't exist.
I'd rather you mention my child,
Knowing that he has been missed.

You asked me how I was doing.
I say "pretty good" or "fine".
But healing is something ongoing.
I feel it will take a lifetime.
This beautiful poem from a newspaper was laminated at sent to us at Infants Remembered In Silence (IRIS). The personal note reads:

"I have carried this around in my wallet for many years. I thought that it was time for it to be removed when I became aware of your group this past summer. This is a gift.
Thank You!
~ Sonja "

This beautiful poem has been passed on to another IRIS mother to carry in her wallet. She will do so until she passes it along to another mother who is in great need of it.
