To Our Babies
by Stayci Bell
in memory of her daughter Alexandra Cepeda, July 1, 1999 - August 18, 1999
We’ll never be able to feed you with a spoon,
Because you’re up there past the moon.
We’ll never be able to teach you to spell “jar,”
Because you’re up there swinging on a star.
We’ll never be able to play seek and find,
Because God had other things for you in mind.
We’ll never be able to see you graduate
But we want you to know we don’t hesitate
To cherish the memories and time well-spent.
To hold you in our hearts like the day you were born.
To be proud to be the ones to give you life.
To honor you with each waking moment of our being.
You are the brave ones.
We are forever proud of you for going
someplace most of us are afraid to go”
but somehow can’t wait to go
if it means being with you again. .
Until then, thanks for the blessings you somehow still bring us.
