Your Child and Mine

In honor of my friends at SHARE

We are friends, you and I
Sisters born of an adverse bond
Member of an exclusive sorority
I met you through my child
Not at the park, or zoo, or school
But through the fact of a small grave
And when we’re together we can talk
For an hour
Or not at all
In the silence I still know
You know what I do
And when you catch me
With a sigh
Looking at other children playing
It is only that I’m thinking
Of children playing together in heaven
Your child and mine

Remembering David Andrew, stillborn at 37 weeks - April 18, 2003 and Grace Abigail lost in early pregnancy at 9 weeks - January 12, 2004.
