Just For Today

What will I do, just for today
to try and make the pain go away?

Do I hold your picture and maybe cry?
Do I sit confused and wonder “why?”

Will I ever laugh and be happy again?
I think I will, but I don’t know when.

Will days get better as they say?
Will the emptiness ever go away?

Memories that my heart contains;
these are all that remain
of the one I held so dear.
My child, you’re no longer here.

I wait for the day
I’ll see you again.
Pure love from the heart.
Oh! – but when?

My faith never leaves me.
I think I’ll pray
for God’s loving comfort
just for today.
