Immortality

Arise from behind your shadowy cloaks,
sinuous branches of olden oaks,
reveal thy life and thy glory;
your luminescence of immortality.
Forever have you shown yourself
upon this earth where mortals dwell,
to remind us we live for eternity,
if not on earth then heavenly.
With lenity and grace you comfort,
when from our loved ones we must part.
You give us all the strength to bear
the formidable burdens of our despair.
And a lessening of our sorrow,
as we live, love and delight…beyond tomorrow.
