Little One
By James Osborne
In Memory of Jimmy Osborne 8/68
I had not planned for what has happened
to us, Little One.
My heart is full of distrust in what is to be,
And here I am. I just cannot say good-bye.
You’re in no harm as long as you’re in
God’s hands I know.
But what about my arms, Little one,
they are empty. .
I have nothing to hold.
I just cannot say goodbye.
What about all the things we planned
to do as you grew up?
The games we would play, the places we were going to go?
I’m really sad, My Little One.
Angry because you left me with only a
memory to hold.
