My Caroline Box

My Caroline box sits quietly in its special place.

It is cotton candy pink and white
with hand-painted rose buds and pink satin ribbons.
Exactly the colors her nursery would have been.

It keeps safe all her precious things.
The tiny gown she wore, the blanket she was wrapped in
and the delicate silver ribbon from her flowers.

And so much more, you see. For it holds my heart.
My hopes, my dreams, and a lifetime of love, too.
Kept especially for her.

All safe and secure in my Caroline box.
