The Holidays...

The time has come,
The holidays,
A time of joy and grace.

But what about those of us
Whose smiles have lost their place?

How do we greet this time of year
When life should be so grand?

Our losses
And our “might have beens”
Are all that we can stand.

Oh, help me now to find the strength
To shop, and cook, and clean.

Oh, help me now to find a place
For grief and joy between.

I have so much, yet am so sad
I know not where to turn.

In this time of miracles,
Allow me peace to learn.

So happy days
And merry nights
We watch the candles burn.

Dear God,
Give me serenity,
And loving lessons learned.
